Your driveway is the first place that your guests see when they visit. It is also the area that welcomes you home after work. Thus, it's a good idea to make it look elegant and welcoming.

Today we at McFarlane Paving would like to give you a brief introduction on the various materials to use for your driveway that we can pave for you when it comes to driveway paving in NJ. From basalt to concrete, brick to asphalt, you can use any of the several materials for your driveway. Here are a few and their characteristics.

Driveway Paving in NJ
Gravel
Gravel is a popular material since it is cheap to install and does not require a lot of money to maintain. However, it is not ideal for areas that snow a lot. Gravel comes in different colors and can be customized to your specific color combinations.

Concrete
Concrete is durable, versatile and has low maintenance costs in the long term. It is also cheap to install and suitable for all weather conditions. This is what makes it the most popular materials for paving houses.

Pavers
Pavers have a great curb appeal. There are also many paver choices available in the market. Moreover, there are diverse designs and colors available in the market. Although more expensive than most of the other materials, it has very low maintenance costs and can last more than 40 years.

Shell
Crushed shell is very beautiful, looks natural and is cost-effective. There are three main varieties that include scallop, oyster, and clam. The shells range from gray, off-white to brown. Shells also have a good draining ability. As long as the shell are harvested responsibly, it is a good material for just any driveway.

Asphalt

Asphalt is popular in areas that snow a lot since it thaws better and is not affected by weather cycles like concrete and pavers. The black color absorbs heat, which makes it good for thawing but also makes it too hot during summer. You need to seal asphalt driveways every five years.

Basalt
Basalt is a natural rock mostly found on the floor of the ocean. It is dense, hard and durable. It also comes in several hues that make it beautiful for use in patios and driveways. It can also be made in different shapes.

Grass
Grass driveway materials include a base structure to support the cars and grass for aesthetic appearance. The grass is mowed as you do to your lawn. This material makes you home look green and cool. Maintaining grass is as easy as watering it and mowing it whenever it gets long.
